What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is more than just a foot massage. It based on the principle that reflexes on our hands and feet and face correspond to different organs and systems in the body. Applying pressure to these reflex points, can help alleviate stress, and support the body's circulation and natural healing processes.
It is a very relaxing treatment that my clients really enjoy and many people find they fall asleep during a treatment.
For a reflexologist your feet are like a map of your body, when you have a treatment with me I use this map to identify and address imbalances in your body.
Stress - Hard or sensitive parts on your feet can be connected with how stressed you are. When you have a treatment at Barefoot & Beyond, I will focus on alleviating the tension I find in your feet and promoting relaxation and balance.
Circulation - The temperature and colour of your feet can reveal important information about your circulation. Reflexology can enhance circulation, contributing to improved overall well-being
Energy - Reflexology can help identify energy blockages. At Barefoot and Beyond I will work to restore the flow of energy around the body enhancing your overall vitality.
Body Systems - The body consists of interconnected systems that maintain health and wellbeing. Each system has a unique role, from regulating vital processes to supporting movement and defending against infections. Reflexology can help to identify issues within the systems and help regulate the body’s natural healing processes
Why choose Reflexology?
We often forget just how incredible our own bodies are, when we cut ourselves, the body works to heal that cut and if we have an infection the body’s immune system fights it. But sometimes our bodies need a bit of a nudge and that is where reflexology comes in.
By stimulating reflexes in the feet, hands and face I can help to reduce muscle tension in the body, boost immunity and circulation and release endorphins (feel-good hormones) all of which can help to de-stress you and may also improve your natural sleep patterns.

History of Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient practice with roots in early civilizations like China and India, where it was used to promote healing and alleviate pain.
The modern development of reflexology is largely credited to Dr. William H. Fitzgerald, who introduced the concept of “zone therapy” in the early 20th century.
This concept was further refined by Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist who mapped out detailed reflex points on the feet and hands. Her work laid the foundation for contemporary reflexology practices, emphasising the connection between specific points on the feet and hands and various parts of the body.
Today, reflexology is widely recognised as a complementary therapy that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and supports overall well-being
